Sarasota Gallery Adds Shell Artist

There are three things you can always find at the Elizabeth Rice Fine Art and Antique Gallery: Contemporary Art, Biedermeier Furniture and Shellart.

For eight years, this prestigious gallery on Main Street, Sarasota, has been the destination for art aficionados and lovers of fine antiques. Designers and savvy homeowners agree that it’s the unique and the special that best expresses ones’ personality and creates the feeling of home and haven. That’s what makes the Rice Gallery a favorite haunt for connoisseurs of the rare and unusual.

Recently, works of Judith Auclair, Coquillage Artist, have been added to the gallery. Her extensive collection of lighting, mirrors, furniture and accessories are now on display. Judith is known for her exuberant and enthusiastic usage of specimen shells from around the world, and her work can be found in penthouses and cottages throughout Florida, the Caribbean, and beyond.

“Whether working in a clean, contemporary or an opulent grotto style, I am always paying tribute to the beauty and bounty of the sea. I am deeply honored to be working in this precious media and sharing it with others.”

Private commissions are now being accepted. Contact Elizabeth Rice at 941-954-8575 or visit the gallery at 1467 Main Street, Sarasota, Florida.

Captiva Gallery Adds Shellart Collection

The Shirley Allen Gallery on Captiva Island recently discovered coquillage artist, Judith Auclair, and have added an extensive collection of her work to their already eclectic finds on Andy Rosse Lane.

“When George and I saw Judith’s’ work, we knew we had to bring her to Captiva! Her creations capture the spirit and serenity of this unspoiled tropical paradise, while archiving the natural beauty of seashell, coral and crustacia. How could you not want one of her fabulous mirrors in your entrance or dining room? Or have one of our elaborately encrusted shell boxes for your coffee table? Each piece celebrates the pristine beauty of our beaches and waters, while bringing whimsy and sophistication to an interior”, says Shirley Allen.

Pictured here is the Red Pectin Mirror, part of the Auclair Collection currently on display at the Allen Gallery; the exclusive representative on Captiva Island. Located between the Bay and the Gulf, on Andy Rosse Lane, the gallery is open daily.

Private commissions are available by visiting the gallery and chatting with Shirley or George.
